A Syrian Brass Rectangular Lidded Box with Silver Inlay, 20th Century. Of rectangular form with a sloped lid, this Syrian brass lidded box is richly inlaid with silver and copper featuring intricate arabesque knotwork, scrolling tendrils, and panels of Arabic script. The top is bordered with a dense vine motif, while each side showcases finely engraved calligraphy framed by ornamental cartouches. A hinged clasp secures the lid. Approximately 5.5 x 12.5 x 7.7cm (hxlxw) Provenance: Private collection from a distinguished W London collector.
