A KAISER WILHELM II WW1 "FIGHTER PILOT" PRESENTATION VASE TO HANS-JOACHIM BUDDECKE
A large WW1 German porcelain presentation vase by the Royal Prussian Porcelain maker ( KPM ) with the Blue Max (Pour Le Merite) decoration over two eagles in combat and Kaiser Wilhelm II's cipher on the obverse. A lone golden eagle is adorning the top of the lid. It is marked with the KPM's maker mark and an iron cross, indicating war-time manufacture.
These vases have only been presented to a select few, very early and extremely accomplished fighter pilots and only two before have come to market via auction. The Presentation vase from Max Immelmann's estate was sold in Thies' December 2009 auction and an unnamed one from Thies & Johnson Military Auctions in June 2015.
This Presentation Vase has come from an exclusive Aviation collection from a buyer who exclusively collected items from the early days of flight and the vase has been sourced within Germany from the 1970s.
Dimensions: H: 15 in., (38.1 cm.)
Condition: Excellent.
