FIVE RUSSIAN GILT-SILVER AND NIELLO SNUFF BIOXES, 19 C.
A group of five silver and niello snuff boxes, various makers, Moscow, 19th century. Of a rectangular form, each gilt-silver box is nielloed on the lid with a topographical scene and other ornamentation around the sides. The first maker's mark in Cyrillic ZhN, Moscow, circa 1862-1875, 84 standard; the second maker's mark VE, Moscow, 1847, 84 standard; the third maker's mark OB, Moscow, 1845, 84 standard; the fourth apparently unmarked, 84 standard; the fifth maker's mark OB, Moscow, 18(??), 84 standardProvenance: Sotheby's, Collecting Across Continents 19 October 2022, lot # 572.
Dimensions: Largest (L x W): 3 3/8 x 2 1/8 in., (8.5 x 5.5 cm.)
