19TH CENTURY AFRICAN AXE, COLLECTION OF EDWARD FREY
This African battle Axe, late 19 – early 20 cc. Probably from Central Africa. With steel rounded blade put through a wooden shaft with steel rivets for balancing and decoration. Provenance: Collection of Edward Frey (1920-2003) Miami, Florida. Mr. Frey was a known collector and researcher of oriental arms and author of the book “The Kris Mystic Weapon of the Malay World.”
Dimensions : Overall length: 25 in. (64 cm.)
Condition : Very good with a small part of the shaft missing.
