A LARGE BRONZE JAPANESE INCENSE BURNER OF THE MEIJI ERA

This large bronze incense burner is made to look like three leaves, the legs of the bowl being their points, and the veins being made with repoussé. Originally the bowl would likely have had some form of lid that is no longer extant. The handles are of one piece with the rest of the bowl, made by cutting part of the bronze leaves and then folding the cut section upwards. The whole piece is set atop a wooden base.

H: 9 in., (23 cm.); L: 15 3/4 in., (40 cm.)

Condition: It is in excellent condition overall with a nice bronze patina throughout.
