LABLACHE LUIGI: (1794-1858) Italian opera wide range Singer. A reputed singer of the first half of the 19th century. Lablache created the title role in Donizetti´s Don Pasquale (1843) and taught singing to Queen Victoria. A.L.S., `L. Lablache´, one page, 8vo, n.p., 15th January 1847, in French. Lablache states in part `Mr. Thalberg is not in Paris at the moment. He is at the Hague

G Lablache sang the solos in Mozart´s Requiem on the death of Joseph Haydn in 1809, and sang at the funerals of Beethoven in 1827, Bellini in 1835 and Chopin in 1849. Schubert wrote three songs in Italian for Lablache towards the end of his life. Lablache refers to Sigismond Thalberg (1812-1871) German-Swiss Composer and Pianist. Thalberg married Lablache´s eldest daughter Francesca.
