MAUGHAM W. SOMERSET: (1874-1965) English Novelist and Playwright. T.L.S., W. S. Maugham, one page, 8vo, London, 1st November 1962, to Avarus, on the printed stationery of The Dorchester hotel. Maugham thanks his correspondent for their 'interesting and most moving letter', which had touched and pleased him, and hopes that he is addressing his correspondent correctly ('I cannot decipher your signature'), further remarking 'You must forgive me if I do not ask you to send me your treatise. I am now a very old man - nearly ninety - and in an indifferent state of health. I have not the strength left to do what you ask of me'. Some very light, extremely minor age toning, VG
