PANCKE GUNTHER (1899-1973) German General der Waffen-SS who served as Higher SS and Police Leader of Denmark. D.S., Pancke, two pages, 4to, Altona, 21^st March 1935, in German. The partially printed document, completed entirely in Pancke's hand, is the official Personnel Report for Hermann Baranowski, supplying his Party Membership number (345321) and other personal details including his place and date of birth, SS Passport number, place of residence and the name of his wife, and continuing to give an assessment of his appearance ('stocky, medium size, strong'), his character ('indulgent but energetic, not too much self-initiative, but absolutely reliable and loyal'), levels of common sense ('good') and intelligence ('good'), his National Socialistic ideology ('at a high rate') etc., and further giving brief details of his education and military service including a recent promotion. Countersigned at the conclusion by Werner Lorenz (1891-1974) German SS-Obergruppenfuhrer, head of the Volksdeutsche Mittelstelle, the Main Office for Ethnic Germans. Lorenz confirms that the document is a good assessment. With two official circular purple ink rubber stamps, each featuring the Nazi eagle and swastika. Two file holes to the left edge, not affecting the signatures or text. About VG
