HENRIETTE OF BELGIUM: (1870-1948) Duchess of Vendome, sister of King Albert I of the Belgians. A.L.S., Henriette, two pages, 4to, Tourronde, 4th March 1942, to a friend, in French. The Princess states that postage delays have meant that she only received her correspondent's letter today, with the interesting documents relating to the status of La Brindille D'Or, and continues 'It is therefore with all my heart that I send my vote for your re-election as our beloved and revered president, as well as the re-election of our Office, which demonstrates such an intelligent and tireless dedication', further referring to her votes for the vice-presidents, the secretary-general and treasurer, and commenting 'I regret, as always, the cruel distance between us, made all the more difficult by the current communication difficulties, but there is no such thing as obstacles or distance for the heart, and mine is with you all, with my precious Brindille d'Or, which sows blessings with flowers and donations
..' Some very light, minor creases to the edges and a very small stain close to the signature, otherwise VG La Brindille D'Or (The Golden Sprig) was established in November 1920 to provide financial assistance to the parents of fallen French soldiers
