WALEWSKI ALEXANDRE: (1810-1868) Alexandre Florian Colonna-Walewsli. Polish and French Politician and Diplomat. Alexandre Walewski is widely recognized to be illegitimate son of Napoleon I by his mistress Countess Marie Walewska. A good A.L.S., `A. Walewski´, two pages, 4to, Fontainebleau, 11th August 1835, to Monsieur Theodore Crespin, in French. Walewski addresses this letter to his correspondent, probably his banker or financial collaborator, and refers to several financial transactions, stating in part `Monsieur, I kindly ask you to give to Mr. Bellanger the acceptations you have in your hands which he has suscribed for 8000 francs. But only after taking back my acceptations for an equivalent sum which was granting
´ further adding `Please exchange also the acceptation of 5000 francs which you hold from the said Monsieur Bellanger against another one for 3750.´ To the second page, Bellanger annotates and signs acknolewdging thereceipt of the 8000 francs. Accompanied by two recipts, one page each, 4to and 12mo respectively, dated 1831 and 1835, bothe signed by Bellanger, cancelling the 5000 francs one and accepting the new one of 3750 francs. With blank address leaf bearing a postmark of Fontainebleau, and a red wax seal in fine condition.Small overall minor age wear, mostly to edges, otherwise G, 3
