FRENCH REVOLUTION MATRIX SEAL: A rare and unusual wooden matrix seal, used for wax seals, dating from the French Revolution era. Matrix made in brass, showing French revolutionary republican symbols, such as Marianne personifying the Liberty, Equality and Fraternity, and the bonnet hanging to the head of a spear. Also bearing initials to a shield. The height being 8 cm, and the matrix seal 2 x 2.5 cm. VG
