HAMMARSKJÖLD HJALMAR: (1862-1953) Swedish politician and Scholar. Prime Minister of Sweden 1914-17. Chairman of the Nobel Foundation 1929-47. Autograph Statement Signed, H.L. Hammarskjöld, one page, folio, n.p., n.d., in Spanish, French and Latin. Hammarskjold first transcribes a popular Spanish song, `Do not call the Fortune, - you cannot order it - and it never comes - where it is called´ and further states in French `Substitute "Peace" for "Fortune" and you will understand that there are people who love peace, but stay far from pacifism. It is not the name which matters, but rather the reality, and peace could not be an immediate and independent goal, but an outcome.´ and concludes with a statement in Latin `If you want peace, prepare justice.´ A good and clean statement.
