PALMERSTON VISCOUNT: (1784- 1865) British Prime Minister 1855- 58, 1859- 65. A good L.S., Palmerston, two pages, folio, Foreing Office, 6th October 1848, to the Prince de Castelcicala. Palmerston acknowledges receipt of his correspondent´s note `announcing the death of Her Majesty The Queen Dowager of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies´ on the 13th September and also confirms that he `has not failed to lay Prince Castelcicala´s note before the Queen [Victoria] who has received with the deepest regret the melancholy intelligence wich it communicates´. With blank integral leaf. One very small ink blot and an extremely minor tear to the centre of one fold, not affecting the text or signature, VG £ 100 120
