Alfredo Casella (1883-1947) Founder and Director of Italian journal Ars Nova. Casella was an important protagonist of Italian musical and intellectual life of that time. In 1916 he founded the ''Societa Italiana di Musica Moderna'', Ars Nova being the official mouthpiece of the ''Societa''. Ars Nova was an Italian journal which was irregularly published in Rome from 1917 to 1919, mainly due to difficulties related to high cost of paper. The Journal closed from May to November 1918.
