DIAZ PORFIRIO: (1830-1915) President of Mexico 1876, 1877-80 & 1884-1911. Diaz rose the rank of General leading republican troops against Emperor Maximilian, and seizing power after a coup. D.S., `Porfirio Diaz´, two pages, large folio, Mexico, 31st July 1901, to Alfredo Chavero, in Spanish. The attractive partially printed document, bearing to the heading a very large and impressive vignette showing an eagle, snake, drums and flags, is the appointment of Alfredo Chavero as Controller of the Bank of London and Mexico. Beneath the vignette, the document shows the printed title ''Porfirio Diaz, Constitutional President of the Mexican United States''. To the front lower left border the document bears a very attractive blind embossed paper seal affixed. Countersigned at the base, with ink stamp over a post-stamp affixed to the upper corner. To the second page the document bears three countersignatures and two official ink stamps, dated 14th and 17th March 1902, one from the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico. With blank integral leaf. Extremely small tear to the fold edge, and minor age wear, otherwise G to VG
