DEWAR JAMES: (1842-1923) British chemist and physicist, best known for his invention of the vacuum (thermos) flask. A.L.S., James Dewar, three pages, 8vo, Albemarle Street, London, 14th May 1894, to Louis Olivier, on the blind embossed stationery of the Royal Institution of Great Britain. Dewar acknowledges receipt of his correspondent's note regarding the Friday Evening Address which he hopes to deliver on the 10th June, and comments 'As soon as I get a Proof ready for the Journal of the Royal Institution I shall take much pleasure in sending it to you for publication in France. In any case I do not anticipate being able to do anything for some weeks, but when I make any notes I will send them to the “Revue Generale des Sciences”'.
