DUMAS ALEXANDRE: Pere (1802-1870) French Writer whose historical novels of high adventure include The Three Musketeers (1844). An attractive vintage signed sepia carte-de-visite photograph by Dumas, the oval sepia albumen image by Pierre Petit of Paris depicting the writer in a formal half length pose. Signed ('avec mille compliments Alex. Dumas') in fountain pen ink to a clear area beneath the image. Photographer's imprint to the lower mount and verso. VG £600 - 900 Dumas is one of the most widely read of French writers and his works have inspired more than 200 motion pictures.
