HAYWORTH RITA: (1918-1987) Spanish American actress, one of the most glamorous screen idols of the 1940s. An extremely rare T.L.S., Margarita Aly Khan, one page, 8vo, Neuilly sur Seine, 17th October 1950, to the Maison Jeanne Lanvin, in French. Hayworth writes to introduce Miss. Marguerite Babulle, niece of the director of Comptoir National D'Escompte of Paris in Nice, who would like to resume work in haute couture following a convalescence period and explaining that she had previously worked at the Nina Ricci, Lucien Lelong and Christian Dior fashion houses. In concluding Hayworth remarks that it would be nice if the request could be taken into consideration. A highly unusual letter linking the glamorous Hayworth, at the time Princess Aly Khan, with various leading French fashion houses. Matted in olive green and framed and glazed to an overall size of 8.5 x 10.5. A few very minor, light creases, otherwise VG
Lanvin, the high fashion house, was founded by Jeanne-Marie Lanvin (1867-1946) in 1889. It is the third oldest French fashion house still in operation.
Rita Hayworth (born Margarita Carmen Cansino) was married to Prince Aly Khan, a son of Aga Khan III, from 1949-53. It was the third of Hayworth's five marriages and ended in the actress being granted a divorce from the Prince on the grounds of extreme mental cruelty.
