MEYERBEER GIACOMO: (1791-1864) German Composer. A very fine A.L.S., `G. Meyerbeer´, one page, 4to, Paris, 25th February 1825, to Viscount de la Rochefoucault, in French. Meyerbeer refers to one of his operas, wishing to stop the rehearsals and stating in part `Ayant été informé a mon arrive a Paris, que l´autorité supérieure du Theatre Royal Italien vous appartient, et que c´est par vos ordres que fut exausé ma priere de suspendre les répétitions de mon Opéra “Il Crociato in Egitto” jusqu´a l´arrivée de la veritable partition, je desire infiniment Monsieur le Vicomte pouvoir vous présenter..´ (“Having been informed on my arrival to Paris, that the superior authority of the Royal Italian Theatre belongs to you, and that it is by your orders that my request to suspend the rehearsals of my Opera “Il Croviato in Egitto” was granted until the arrival of the real score, I very much desire Monsieur le Vicomte to be able to present to you..”) With address leaf in Meyerbeer´s hand. Il Crociato in Egitto is an opera in two acts by Meyerbeer, premiered at La Fenice theatre of Venice, on 7th March 1824.
