MARIA ISABELLA OF SPAIN: (1789-1848) Queen consort of the Two Sicilies 1825-30 as spouse of Francis I, and Infanta of Spain as daughter of Charles IV of Spain. Unusual A.L.S., `Maria Isabel´, one page, 4to, Naples, 27th December 1847, on the Queen´s printed stationery, to the Queen of Spain Isabella II, in Spanish. On a very attractive paper letter, bearing to the upper left corner a gilt and red embossed crowned monogramme, with the Queen´s initials, the Queen of Naples sends a warm letter to the Queen of Spain, stating in part `Now that the calm has returned around you over there… I write with a great pleasure to you as promised… and wish to let you know that I love you, and that I wish you happiness… I hope that all will be fine with your mother and the King you husband… It is very cold here, and wet, and this doesn´t make this a nice and pleasant country... Your dear Grandmother´  VG

Maria Isabella of Spain, Queen of Naples, was the aunt and at the same time grandmother of Isabella II, Queen of Spain. She was the aunt because Isabella II was daughter of Ferdinand VII King of Spain, whose sister was Maria Isabella of Spain. But at the same time, Ferdinand VII married Maria Christina of the Two Sicilies, his fourth wife and niece as daughter of Maria Isabella of Spain his sister, and gave birth to Isabella II, therefore she also became grand-daughter of Maria Isabella of Spain.
