ANNE MARIE LOUISE D'ORLEANS: (1627-1693) Duchess of Montpensier, known as La Grande Mademoiselle. One of the greatest heiresses in history, the Duchess died unmarried and childless. D.S., Anne Marie Louise Orleans, one page (vellum), large oblong folio, Chateau de Saint-Fargeau, 28th April 1657, in French. The elegantly penned document is addressed to the Treasurer of the Household and is a warrant relating to the appointment of Paul Piercot as a valet de chambre to the Duchess following the departure of Joseph Neron. With a red wax seal affixed and encased in a paper wrapper. A few minor holes, repaired to the verso, only very slightly affecting two words of text and a small part of the signature. About VG
