ELLINGTON DUKE: (1899-1974) American jazz composer and pianist. Vintage signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph of the youthful Ellington standing in a three-quarter length pose and with a lit cigarette in one hand. Photograph by Maurice of Chicago and issued as a publicity portrait by Mills Artists Inc. of New York. Signed by Ellington in blue fountain pen ink to a clear area of the background. The signature and inscription are a little light in places although remain reasonably legible. A few light, minor corner creases, otherwise VG
