BARRAS PAUL: (1755-1829) French Politician during revolution, President of the National Convention and the main executive Leader of the Directory regime of 1795-99. Rare A.L.S., P. Barras, one page, folio, Paris, 5th March 1795, on the printed stationery of the National Convention, General Security Committee, in French. The Committee orders to open Magnan apartment, rue André des Arts in Paris, and to requisition all documents that will be found and bring them to the Committee of General Security. The letter is also countersigned by six Convention deputies comprising François Louis Bourdon de l'Oise (1758-1798), Joseph Stanislas Rovère de Fontvielle (1748-1798), Louis Legendre (1752-1797), well remembered butcher friend of Danton, Louis Alexandre Jacques Vardon (1751-1809), Armand Benoît Joseph Guffroy (1742-1801), and Jean François Genin (1765-1838). With a paper seal affixed at the base of the front page. VG £400-600
