RUSSIAN CAMPAIGN - LAST BULLETIN: A rare and original contemporary war bulletin of the Grande Armée, one page, 18 x 23, bearing at the heading the Empire eagle vignette, being the 29th and last of the Russian campaign, dictated by the Emperor in Maladzyechna, Belarus, on 3rd December 1812. Napoleon returned to Paris two days after. This rare and legendary public notice reports the extent of the disastrous Russian campaign, reporting that the only reason of such calamity and defeat of the Grande Armée was the bad weather. The text starts with `Until the 6th November the weather was perfect…´ and concludes stating `..His Majesty´s health has never been better.´ This last sentence was added to confirm he was alive after the false information given by Malet and his partners in crime. The public notice reports on the last battles in Russia, and explains the crossing of the Berezina. Extremely small stains and edges damaged, otherwise VG £400-600 Napoleon said to Caulaincourt (Caulaincourt´s memories, volume II) when dictating the notice on 3rd December 1812, ''I will say all happened. It will be better that people get the explanations from me and not through private letters and that the details could mitigate the effect that such disasters which I have to announce to the nation would have produced.´
