LUMIERE AUGUSTE: (1862-1954) French Pioneer Filmmaker, along with his brother Louis. An attractive D.S., Lumiere, twice, one page, 11 x 4, Lyon, 23rd March 1897, in French. The large partially printed document, bearing the A. Lumiere & Sons printed heading, being a signed cheque by Auguste Lumiere, Lyon, 23rd March 1897, is made payable to Gouyx & Co for the sum of 27.55 Fr. The document bears a large number of ink stamps, tax stamps, cancellations and countersignatures to the front and verso, including a second signature by Auguste Lumiere to the verso, beneath the Lumiere & Sons ink stamp. Small overall age wear to the edges, otherwise G £200-300
