CAILLEBOTTE GUSTAVE: (1848-1894) French painter associated with the Impressionists. A.L.S., G Caillebotte, one page, small 8vo, Petit Gennevilliers, n.d. ('Lundi'), to [Claude Monet] ('Mon cher ami'), in French. The artist informs his friend 'Je suis ici depuis le commencement du mois. J'ai eu un temps ignoble naturellement' (Translation: 'I have been here since the beginning of the month. I had a lousy time of course') and asks Monet to come and see him, in a postscript adding 'Martial prepare une petite balade en vapeur pour mercredi. Il va jusqu'a la Roche. Cela ferait peut-etre notre affaire' (Translation: 'Martial is preparing a little steam ride for Wednesday. He goes as far as La Roche. Maybe that would suit us'). A charming letter with good association. VG
