GANDHI MAHATMA: (1869-1948) Indian political and spiritual leader during the Indian independence movement. A very fine A.L.S., Bapu, in Gujarati, two pages, 8vo, Satyagrahashram (Gandhi Ashram), Sabarmati, 21st March 1925, to his friend Behram Navroji Khambatta, in Gujarati. Gandhi writes demonstrating both practical advice and spiritual teaching, 'Your son has my blessing. I see no need to panic and leave for Europe. We must have faith in God. I see no objection to allowing a local doctor to operate if he is willing to take the risk. Have you consulted Nana Deshmukh? Tell Jal to be brave. Keep me informed. How is your health? If the prison doctors don't want to try the operation or if you are uneasy yourself, you can go to Europe. Do not consider my letter as an order or a refusal. We must not act impulsively, and remember that the body is not immortal and therefore we should not be too attached to it. This is what I would like to share with you'.
