[LOUIS XIV]: (1638-1715) Also known as Louis the Great or The Sun King. King of France 1643-1715. Son of Louis XIII. His reign of more than 72 years is the longest recorded of any monarch in European history. A good L.S., `Louis«, by his secretary Toussaint Rose (1611.1701), one page, large folio, St-Germain en Laye, 10th August 1669, to M. Du Bois de la Musse, Counsellor of State, in French. The king states that `My April 1664 decree has brought a so considerable relief to my subjects with the important changes to so many useless legal proceedings that the success of such work has obliged me to continue improving and working on such task so useful for everybody..« The King further instructs his correspondent to make sure that in the parliament of Bretagne the decree orders are carefully observed. Countersigned by the Secretary of State Hugues de Lionne (1611-1671). Extremely small area of paper loss to the upper right corner, not affecting the text or signature. Overall small creasing and small clean tears due to opening. Folded. VG £150-200 Cesar-Auffrey Blanchard (1612-1671) Marquis du Bois de la Musse. President of the Bretagne Treasury Chamber.
