[LOUIS XV]: (1710-1774) King of France 1715-74. Also known as Louis the Beloved. Letter signed `Louis«, one page, 4to, Versailles, 5th April 1772, to Pierre Laurent Dumont, in French. The partially printed document being a safe-conduct given to Pierre Laurent Dumont authorizing his free travelling for six months, and stating `His Majesty expressly warns any creditor to avoid any claim, and to any sergeant, any bailiff, or any other to arrest him or disturb him..« Countersigned by Louis Phelypeaux. Very small, minor age wear, otherwise VG £80-100 Louis Phelypeaux (1705-1777) Count of Saint Florentin. Minister of State and of the King«s House for more than 25 years, 1749-75, under Louis XV. Phelypeaux had Chalgrin design the Hotelof Saint-Florentin, later passing to Talleyrand, to James de Rothschild and now being part of the US Embassy at the Concorde square.
