A letter of very interesting content, Louis Philippe stating in part `..I am of the opinion and tend to believe that in a court case as well as in war, you cannot hesitate, nor disagree to attack your enemy everywhere he is susceptible to be attacked..« further referring to his father and to the time when he left France, saying `I left France seven months before my father passed away, although I was still present when he was arrested. He was arrested the 4th of April, and I escaped on the 5th. This doesn«t change anything to the matter, but it is in order to be rigorous and have the exact dates and facts..« VG £200-300 Louis Philippe d«Orleans (1747-1793) Duke of Montpensier and later Duke of Chartres. Although Louis Philippe I states very clearly in this letter that his father was arrested on the 4th, the Encyclopedia Universalis states that the order arrest was dated 6th April and that Philippe d«Orleans was effectively arrested on 7th April.
