METTERNICH PRINCE KLEMENS VON: (1773-1859) Politician and Statesman, one of the most important diplomats of his era. Austrian Empire's Foreign Minister and Chancellor 1821-48. A.L.S., Metternich, in its youth form, one page, 4to, n.p., 15th April 1793, to Monsieur Drugenau, in French. An autograph letter in the hand of a nineteen years old very young Metternich, just returned from Mainz where he was at the law university in Mainz. Metternich was at the time of the present letter in the employment of his father and was sent on several special missions to the front. Metternich states in part `The Minister has been very sensible to your kind offer.. and with your offer to help the Royal Treasury with the sum of 80.000 to 100.000 loan, which would be effectively a service to rend in this precise moment..« With blank address leaf. Bearing to the address leaf a red wax seal in good condition. Overall age wear and some water stains to the borders, not affecting the signature. F to G £80-100
