BARATINSKY IVAN: (1772-1825) Russian Prince. Chamberlain and Minister under Alexander I. Well known for the magnificent Maryino palace he made build in the Kursk region. A.L.S., Le Prince Baratinsky, one page, 4to, 12th-24th February 1825, to Count Ferronays, in French. The Prince states in part `An absence of few weeks has prevented me from having the pleasure of responding earlier to your letter dated 12th-24th January..« further saying `I have never seen, never met, and not even heard about Mr. Simon Condre(?)..« The present letter was written shortly before Baratinky«s death. With extremely small area of paper loss to the upper edge, not affecting the text or signature. Some creases and small tear to the right edge. G £100-120
