INGRES JEAN-AUGUSTE-DOMINIQUE: (1780-1867) French Neoclassical painter. A.L.S., J Ingres, one page, 8vo, n.p., 27 th November 1854, to a gentleman, in French. Ingres writes concerning an appointment which he wishes to re-arrange, ‘Vous m'avez fait l'honneur de me promettre un rendez-vous pour samedi du 25 c[ouran] t a midi a mon atelier; n'ayant pas en l'avantage de vous voir, je vous serais oblige de m'en indiquer un autre afin que je me trouve a mon atelier’ (Translation: ‘You have done me the honour of promising me an appointment for Saturday the 25th at noon at my workshop; not having the advantage of seeing you, I would be obliged if you could point me to another one so that I can be at my workshop’).
