ARLETTY: (1898-1992) Leonie Bathiat, known as Arletty, French Actress and Singer. One of the highest-paid actress of her time. Arletty was found guilty of treason and imprisoned for an unclear and controversial affair with a German Luftwaffe officer during WWII. She would allegedly later comment ''My heart is French but my ass is international.´ A good autograph statement, signed `Arletty´, three pages, folio, grid paper, Paris, 27th June 1978, in French. In very large and bold black letters Arletty states in part `I have more souvenirs than if I had a thousand years. A big piece of furniture with overstocked drawers full of statements of accounts, of verses, of tickets, of trials, of romances, with heavy hair intertwined with receipts, hides less secrets than my sad brain.
