FERDINAND VII: (1784-1833) King of Spain 1808, 1813-33. L.S., `Fernando´, one page, 4to, Madrid, 17th February 1816, to his cousin and uncle Ferdinand I of The Two Sicilies, in Spanish. The King announces his next future Royal wedding, and reports on the Portuguese, Brazilian and Spanish close relationship and joint future, stating `My august grandfather Don Carlos 3rd of glorious memory, looking for his Crown benefit and for the happiness of his people, he joined together in matrimony my beloved sister the Infant Carlota Joaquina and my brother-in-law and uncle the Infant Gabriel with the Infant Juan, today Prince of Brazil, and with the Infant Mariana Victoria, both children of the loyal Kings of Portugal…wishing myself to increase these ties of blood, I dealt with the referred Prince of Brazil, Regent of the Kingdom, to join myself in matrimony with his second daughter and my niece the Infant Maria Isabel Francisca and my beloved brother the Infant Carlos would do same with the third daughter Maria Francisca de Asis..´ further saying `Once all has been agreed and matrimony contracts signed, we will celebrate them in due time and with the requested solemnity...´ With blank integral leaf. Ferdinand I was the father of Maria Antonia of Naples and Sicily, first spouse of King Ferdinand VII of Spain. She died at the very early age of 21 and was rumoured that she was poisoned. Maria Isabel of Braganza (1797-1806) Daughter of King John VI of Portugal and Brazil. Second spouse of Ferdinand VII. Queen of Spain 1816-18. Maria Isabel, like Ferdinand VII first spouse, died at very early age of 21.
