BONNIER D´ALCO ANTOINE: (1750-1799) French Diplomat and member of the National Convention. Bonnier d´Alco voted in favour of the execution of King Louis XVI. Rare A.L.S., `Bonnier´, two pages, Rastadt, 15th March 1799, to his friend Jean François Curée de l´Herault, member of the Council of 500, in French. A lengthy, boldly and carefully written letter by Bonnier, stating in part `..I sincerely thank you my friend for your support during the session, showing also your good judgement and justice sense..´ further saying `..according to what newspaper published, I had accepted my appointment in the legislative administration corps; the truth being that I have been appointed Minister at Rastadt on 6th Brumaire, and that I couldn´t be appointed to the council of the ancients until Germinal, this means five months later..´ With small hole to the blank address leaf as a result of the opening. Lower edge slightly trimmed, otherwise G £200-300 The present letter was written from Rastadt where he was entrusted a diplomatic negotiation to the Rastadt congress, and where he would be assassinated only a month later by Hungarian Hussars.
