NAPOLEON I: (1769-1821) Emperor of France 1804-14, 1815. A good L.S., Bonaparte, a bold good example signature, one page, 4to, Paris, 31st December 1795, to the representative of the People Gauthier, on the Army of Interior printed heading, in French. The letter bears the printed title ''Buonaparte, General in chief of the Army of Interior'', and Napoleon in his capacity as General states in part `I do not see any reason, Citizen, to oppose to the appointment of M. Galliez who you have recommended to me; it will be with pleasure that he will be appointed Lieutenant.´ The present letter is dated only two months after Napoleon had defeated the Royalist Insurrection in Paris, in October 1795, and since then earned Bonaparte fame and the patronage of the Directory. Overall age wear, with small area of paper loss to the bottom left corner, few small tears to the edges and small repairs to the verso to edges. F to G £1200-2000
