ZINNEMANN FRED: (1907-1997) Austrian-American Film Director, Academy Award winner. A good signed and inscribed 10 x 8 photograph of the director standing in a full length pose in a river, evidently on location during the filming of the American Holocaust drama Julia (1977). Signed by Zinnemann in blue ink to a light area at the base of the image and dated April 1980 in his hand, further adding a holograph sentiment 'A director's life is not an easy one'. EX £100-150 Julia (1977) starred Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave, Jason Robards, Maximilian Schell and, in her film debut, Meryl Streep. Zinnemann was nominated for a Best Director Academy Award for Julia and the film gained Oscars for Jason Robards (Best Actor in a Supporting Role) and Vanessa Redgrave (Best Actress in a Supporting Role).
