ARLETTY: (1898-1992) Leonie Bathiat, known as Arletty, French Actress and Singer. One of the highest-paid actress of her time. Arletty was found guilty of treason and imprisoned for an unclear and controversial affair with a German Luftwaffe officer during WWII. She would allegedly later comment `My heart is French but my ass is international.´ A good A.N.S., `Arletty´, one page, 4to, Belle-Ile, n.d., in French. In very large and bold black letters Arletty states in part `Quick Paris. Be fit for our ''Folies''. With all my heart.´ VG £60-90
