LISZT FRANZ: (1811-1886) Austrian-Hungarian Composer. A good A.L.S., `F. Liszt´, two pages, 8vo, n.p., n.d., to Prince Poniatowski, in French. Liszt was on his way to visit Poniatowski when they crossed each other, and states `Not knowing if my concert preparations would allow me to meet you before tomorrow evening, I come to beg you to be kind enough and please me with your presence tomorrow Saturday at Cora..´ further saying `I know that you are invited at Princess Metternich´s home, but the concert will be closed before our chops will have time to get cold. Forgive my lack of manners invitation; and do not make me wait till Florence to better know each other..´ The letter bears to the upper front corner the blind embossed seal of Bath. Folded. Very small overall minor age wear, otherwise VG £1000-1500 Jozef Michal Poniatowski (1814-1873) Polish Composer and Tenor. Prince of Monte Rotondo. Nephew of Polish Prince Jozef Antoni Poniatowski, a Napoleon´s Marshal. Pauline Metternich (1836-1921) Princess of Metternich-Winneburg zu Beilstein. Austrian socialite. Known for her great charm and elegance and for her social commitment. She was an important promoter of the works of composers Richard Wagner and Bedrich Smetana.
