Charles was the eldest son of the first Viscount, Henry Hardinge, who was Governor-General of India from 1844, for four years. he was also his father's secretary throughout his Governor-Generalship and his paintings were made mostly during their official visits to various places which included Delhi and Lahore. His book 'Recollections of India' with twenty-six lithographs was divided into two parts and published in 1847. The first part was subtitled 'British India and the Punjab' and the second part 'Kashmir and the Alpine Punjab'. Dimensions: 24 x 19 in Weight: 2 kg
