Siddur HaGra BeNigleh UbeNistar, Compiled by the Kabbalist R. Naftali Hertz HaLevi Rabbi of Jaffa – Jerusalem, 1895-1898 – Two Parts in One Volume
Siddur HaGra BeNigleh UbeNistar, Parts I and II, with Maaseh Rav and selected laws by the Gaon of Vilna, with kabbalistic commentaries and kavanot from a manuscript siddur of the Gaon of Vilna, compiled by the kabbalist R. Naftali Hertz HaLevi Rabbi of Jaffa. Jerusalem: R. Y.N. Levy, 1895-1898.
Two parts in one volume. Part I has two title pages.
Siddur according to the Vilna Gaon's version of the text, with selected laws and kabbalistic commentaries by the Gaon of Vilna. The siddur comprises two parts: the revealed part, which R. Naftali Hertz HaLevi compiled from the book Maaseh Rav and from the commentary of the Gaon of Vilna to Shulchan Aruch; and the kabbalistic part, which contains kabbalistic commentaries and kavanot.
The kabbalistic part is based on two sources: the first is a manuscript siddur copied by R. David Luria (Radal), which was in the possession of R. Shmuel Moltzan who gave it over to his son R. Yitzchak Moltzan. The second, "Kabbalistic selections of the Gaon of Vilna which I collected from his manuscript and printed commentaries… including one compilation which was found in a copy of R. David Luria on Shemoneh Esreh".
This siddur includes two commentaries composed by R. Naftali Hertz HaLevi on the kabbalistic part: Imrei Shefer and Shaar Naftali.
This edition also includes the Shenot Eliyahu commentary to tractate Shabbat, based on a manuscript in his possession. This is in effect the first edition of Shenot Eliyahu to this tractate.
Stamps, signatures of R. "Baruch Mordechai Ettinger" and dedication of his son R. "Ch. Moshe Ettinger", dated 1925.
Two parts in one volume. Part I: [5], 164 leaves. Part II: [1], 160 leaves. 23 cm. Good condition. Dry paper. Minor stains. Tears. Detached leaf, several other leaves are loose and partially detached. Original half-leather binding. Minor damage to binding.
