42 paper items from the end of the British Mandate period and the War of Independence. Palestine, late 1940s. Hebrew and English.
Printed items and documents in handwriting of the Lehi Group (Stern Gang), the Etzel (Irgun) and "Brit HaKanaim":
· 21 paper items of the Lehi Group, including: "L.H.I. - Bulletin" (the group's English-language newspaper) - booklets 8, 9 and 10; "An Outline of Foreign Policy" - English translation of a Hebrew pamphlet; two pamphlets published by the group on the third anniversary of the execution of its leader Avraham "Yair" Stern [not in NLI; one of the pamphlets appears in two copies]; three additional pamphlets from the 1940s, published by the group and presenting the guidelines of its political-spiritual outlook; and more.
· 6 paper items of the Etzel Group (Irgun), including: proclamation declaring responsibility for the explosion at British police headquarters in Haifa (the "Flying Barrel" operation, September 1947); polemic proclamation addressed to the Lehi Group regarding the cessation of the struggle against the British; transcription of an illicit broadcast of "Kol Zion HaLohemet" from 5 Heshvan 5708 (1947); and more.
· 15 paper items of the "Brit HaKanaim" group, including: warning to Jewish women not to socialize with British soldiers, and a harsh warning implying that violent steps may be taken; detailed draft in handwriting for a "column of shame" - a poster meant to publish the names and photographs of Jewish women who socialized with British soldiers; secret handwritten report regarding women seen in a café in the company of Englishmen (dated 1943); printed note with two short notices regarding the spiritual leader of the underground movement and the meeting place of its members; and more.
Size and condition vary. Good-fair overall condition. Some items appear in several copies.
