Megiles Ester. Idish fun Yehoyesh - Gekhtivet fun Evlin Yehoyesh.
Complete Scroll of Esther, printed on a single continuous paper sheet in 14 columns. Text entirely in Yiddish, imitating the design of a traditional Hebrew Megillah. One scroll, printed in black ink, 50 1/2 in. x 7 in. Mounted on stiff paper backing with 1/2-3/4 in. margins; minor tears and losses expertly repaired, not affecting text, very lightly dampstained above first text column and at the end. Leksikon fun der Nayer Yidisher Literatur (1961) Vol. IV, p. 241.

New York: 1936.

An unusual example of printing history in America - the only Megillah to have been issued in the Yiddish language.
This scroll was issued with the Yiddish translation of the Book of Esther accomplished by the Yiddish poet and Bible translator Solomon Blumgarten, better know as "Yehoash" (1872-1927). The exacting calligraphy, combining modern and faux-archaic fonts in a style reminiscent of ancient Hebrew script, is the work of his daughter Evelyn (Chava) Yehoash Blumgarten.
