A CHINESE STONEWARE OR PORCELAIN MEIPING VASE WITH IMPRESSED CHARACTERS. Heavily potted and coated in a thick glaze over a creamy white slip. Around the shoulder are three or four impressed Chinese characters, partially obscured by the thickness of the glaze. Height 33cm (13 inches). Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton, acquired from the US in the 1990s. No repair or restoration but an old chip to the edge of the foot.
