A CHINESE EMBROIDERED MANDARIN RANK BADGE, LATE QING DYNASTY. Of square form, with an applique silver pheasant of the fifth civil rank, woven in silver and gold thread in flight before a sun in coral coloured beads, above waves, fish and clouds, within a border alternating with Shou characters and bats, framed. 32.5cm x 31cm exc. frame. Provenance: Property of Dr.G.W.Milledge acquired during his time in China c.1930s, thence by descent. Very minor loose threads, minor fading, not inspected out of frame.
