A GROUP OF CHINESE SILK EMBROIDERED PANELS, LATE QING/EARLY 20TH CENTURY. Comprising: two dark blue silk tapering rectangular panels embroidered with phoenix and dragons amongst clouds in gold and silver thread, a rectangular red ground panel embroidered with flowers and symbols, another red ground example with flowers, two long rectangular ivory ground panels embroidered with butterflies, a tiger, horse and birds amongst trees and flowers. The ivory examples 102cm long (the longest) (6) All are cut down fragments from larger textiles. The pair of blue silk examples with some fraying to the edge of the blue silk, there is some slight discolouration to the silk and minor tarnishing and some small loose threads to the gilt and silver thread. The embroidery is very fine. The first of the red ground panels is faded to red ground and worn overall, the second red ground example is brighter in colour, it has some wear, minor staining and small holes to red ground and to blue backing, small areas appear unfinished. One of the ivory panels has a small patch of staining, some minor discolouration and fraying at edges overall.
