Leilão Bidspirit | A GROUP OF CHINESE EMBROIDERY


A GROUP OF CHINESE EMBROIDERY FRAGMENTS, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY. Each cut-out, comprising: a pair of dragon-dish in gold thread and coloured silks, their wings outstretched, a bird in silver thread, three blue peony amongst flowering branches on a red ground, assorted smaller fragments similar and a garland of fruits, leaves and an animal. (11). Provenance: Property of Dr.G.W.Milledge acquired during his time in China c.1930s, thence by descent. All cut out and are fragmentary. The pair of Dragon-fish are in good order. The bird with silver thread appears to be lacking one wing where it has been cut down, other minor losses and loose threads.
