A LARGE CHINESE RED LACQUER AND GILT BOX AND COVER, DATED 1855. Octagonal lobed form with nine sectional sections to the interior. The cover decorated in relief with figure of Cai Shen and followers detailed in gilt. Painted characters to the underside of the box dating to 5th year Xianfeng, 1855. 41cm diam. One 7cm crack to edge of the tray with small 3cm possible worm damage and chip to rim. Wear from age and use.
