KPM Berlin Splendid Cup Portrait Empress Augusta
Around 1871, underglaze blue sceptre and red imperial orb mark from 1871, embossed letter D, brush number 24/630 and 4 as well as brush mark in gold, Calathos form with fluted foot and rich relief decoration as surrounding volute and pearl frieze as well as the genius handle with Hohenzollern coat of arms flanking depiction of Europe with the bull and Heracles with lion in bisque porcelain, on the front oval medallion with portrait in fine grisaille onglaze painting, bust portrait of Augusta of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (1811 Weimar to 1890 Berlin, since 1861 Queen of Prussia and after the foundation of the German Empire in 1871 first German Empress) as well as luxuriant gilding with etched irrigated and ornamental decoration as well as complete interior gilding, muzzle area to the left of the portrait old restored, otherwise good condition for age, h 11.5 cm.
